Oh, Carol, my patience is even less than yours! I cannot imagine praying for the same thing for 12 years!! Let me give you an example. I have a friend who was going through a series of very destructive behavior along with alienation from God -- something I think could be called a "dark night of the soul" although he was not familiar with that concept and steadfastly refused to touch St. John of the Cross's book because he thought it would cause him greater psychological devastation. After praying earnestly for him and with him, I finally spent an evening marching around our local mission grounds and "threatening" to pray for nothing else except him unless God were to help him "now"! God did! After that evening, the dark curtain behind which my friend was living lifted, and it has not returned, at least not in the past three years since then. I figure if all the minutes are added together, I spent about 20 hours in prayer on this particular issue. Twelve years is unimaginable! God bless that woman (obviously, God did) -- and all others like her. May we all come to have such faith!

Hello Carol,
My publicist, Christy Wong, from Tyndale House Publishers told me about your review of my first book, Listening for God. That was a very fun surprise to receive today! Thank you so much. Also, I really enjoyed your devotional - please keep writing! I'll be coming back to the "5 Minutes for Faith" website. Thank you, too, for taking the time to listen to the whispers of your Heavenly Father. He loves you so much!
God bless you,
Marilyn Hontz
