I was pondering my Mom memories the other day, and remembered a humorous experience with our son. We were spending the afternoon at the mall which usually went pretty well as long as I only took one child at a time.
This particular afternoon we were having a great time just walking along looking in store windows and enjoying a little together time outside of the house.
All of a sudden my then three year old son looked up at me and said, “Wait here Mommy, I’ll be right back.”
He took off across the mallway and I was momentarily speechless. Fortunately, I quickly regained my senses and yelled, “Oh, no you’re not! Come back here right now!”
Thankfully He turned on his heels and rejoined me. I then squatted down and asked him, “Where do you want to go, and may we go together?”
Truthfully, I don’t remember what he wanted or where he was going. I just remember thinking how silly it was that my three year old thought he could manage that big strange place all by himself. I also remember being very thankful that he wasn’t fast enough to get away from me.
The more I thought about that event I realized how often I bring that same foolishness before the Lord. Here I am in this strange place away from my heavenly home. It’s easy to get lost and it holds many unseen dangers, yet I still look up at my Savior and say, “Wait right here, I’ll be right back.” As I leave church on Sunday. As I leave the house. As I head off to work .. . Anytime, I lose sight of His presence in my life and decide I am going to handle things myself; I am really saying, “Wait right here, I’ll be right back.”
I pray to never be hurrying off so quickly that I fail to hear Him call me back. I am also thankful that He is faithful to ask, “Where do you want to go, and may we go together?”
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
The God of peace be with you all. Amen. Romans 15:33

I loved this post. This is one I’ll probably remember. Great analogy. Thanks:)
